Most agents pass along a name from their referral network and leave it there. We look outside ours. We research the agents actually working that market, call and interview them ourselves, and hand over a short written list with what we learned about each one. The goal is the best agent for the job, not the one who happens to be in our network.
What it saves you
Nobody has to interview agents. And nobody gets handed the agent who simply paid to be there. On Zillow and Realtor.com, agents buy leads in the ZIP codes they pick, so the agent who calls back is often whoever bought that ZIP code. That is not the same as the agent who knows the market. We do the research and make the calls first, then put the reasons in writing.
